Home Learning May 25-29

This weeks theme was community helpers.  Children were given the opportunity to listen to stories, write about and make observations of community helpers.  They also listened to the story You Hold Me Up and then some sent me a video of they ways their family holds them up.  They were wonderful to see.  In math, the students were solving addition number stories and participating in probability activities.  There were three ways to express themselves in art this week; directed drawing of a unicorn, Artist for Kids link and, my favourite, a recreation of a masterpiece (see photos at the bottom of the blog).

Learning at Home, May 19-22

This week the children continued to learn about life cycles.  They were to choose a living thing and find a way to represent its life cycle.  Number sense was the focus in math.  Students completed activities about number placement and order.  In writing, the children continued to try to use more descriptive language.  They have been learning about similes.
